COMMUNITY NEWS

The Barclay Public Library, in conjunction with Dollar General, were able to assist approximately 50 children with Christmas gifts this year and the W-L Lion’s Club were able to present 25 families with food gift cards. Thank you to the residents of this community who were able to support these organizations.

SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Several scholarship opportunities are available for Macon County students:
The Community Foundation of Macon County will begin accepting online scholarship applications beginning January 1, 2021 at http://www.maconcountygives.org. Deadline to apply is March 1, 2021. For more information contact them at 217-220-1363 or 217-429-3000.
The Macon County Farm Bureau have several scholarship opportunities available via online submissions. Undergrad students majoring in an agricultural related field are eligible to apply. The deadline for the H.R. Beeson Scholarship is February 15 and the deadline for other scholarships from the Farm Bureau is March 1, 2021. VIRTUAL BOOKCLUBS
Not even a pandemic can stop us from talking books! All of the titles selected are now available for free download by Barclay cardholders through the library’s Hoopla database.  Please register via the library’s website in order to receive a link to the online discussion.

Bird Day Craft – January 5th
January 5th is National Bird Day. Celebrate by making a birdseed ornament for our feathered friends! Please call the library & pick up your kit curbside.
Hot Chocolate Bombs
Thursday, January 14th at 6:00 p.m.
Put a twist in your typical hot chocolate recipe! Create and decorate your own for you and your family during our Zoom program! Contact the library to reserve your spot and request your kit to pick-up curbside.

Storytime
Tuesdays at 10:30. Join us each Tuesday morning on the library’s Facebook page for a new story read by Miss Cindy.
