Abandoned Vehicles, Machinery & AppliancesVillage Code 1349-2
It shall be unlawful to use any premises in any residential, office, apartment, business or commercial zone of the Village as established by the Zoning Ordinance of the Village for the storing or leaving of worn out, wrecked, abandoned, or inoperable motor vehicles, appliances or machinery of any kind or any parts thereof; any such motor vehicle, appliance or machinery so maintained is hereby declared to be a nuisance. If a nuisance is declared, notice shall be given to any person to abate the said nuisance within ten (10) days after receipt of the notice. Village Code 1349-4

Animal Regulations – Village Code 1305-17 (A)
It shall be unlawful for any person to own, keep or harbor a dog or cat without first having obtained a license to do so. An application for registration/tab may be obtained at the Village Hall or on the licenses page. The fee for each tag is $5.00
Online Animal Registration Application
When your animal is outside, it is required the owner maintain control at all times & when walking your dog, a leash is required. In addition Village Code 1305-18 states: It shall be unlawful for the owner or keeper of any dog or cat or other animal to permit the same to defecate on any public street, alley, parkway, pubic place, unenclosed place within the Village or on any private premises other than the private premises of the owner or keeper. Said acts shall not be construed to be unlawful, if immediately upon occurrence, the owner or keeper removes the defecation in a bag, sack or other sealable or enclosed container to the owner’s or keeper’s premises or deposits the same in a garbage or trash receptacle.

Building Permits
A building permit may be required for any type of new construction on your premises, whether it be a shed, a garage, OR any alteration or addition to your home or any other structure on your property. While planning & prior to start-up, contact either the Village Hall or the Building Inspector to determine what is required and what fees apply.

Building Numbering
It is the duty of each property owner to have in a place visible from the street, figures of at least 3″ high, showing the number of the house/building. Village Code 905-13

Burning Regulations – Village Code 1359-3
Open burning of landscape waste is permitted but only:
Between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and sunset, and when there is sufficient air movement to dissipate the contaminants but not when winds would constitute a hazard of airborne sparks. Burning is only permitted on the premises on which such waste is generated & must be constantly attended by a responsible person until extinguished. Burning should not create a visibility hazard on streets, alleys, public sidewalks, railroad tracks or open fields. No chemically treated materials can be burned within Village limits.
Burning should not be done in or near culverts which could restrict rainwater flow.

Door-To-Door Sales
Applications for door-to-door sales or solicitors must be made at the Village Hall and a license will be issued. Any questions about whether a license has been obtained should be directed to the Village Hall. The license should be carried by the solicitor.

Golf Carts/Neighborhood VehiclesVillage Code 710-3
It is lawful to operate a golf cart or neighborhood vehicle on the Village streets. The operator must be at least 18 yrs. old & have a valid driver’s license.
A license issued by the Village is required using forms provided by the Village. The registration fee is $25.00 per year and is issued by the Chief of Police after an inspection of the vehicle.
Village Code 710-20 Motorized scooters, mini-bikes & motorized toy vehicles are NOT permitted on the streets within the Village.

Grass, Plants or WeedsVillage Code 972-6
It shall be unlawful for anyone to permit any weeks, grass or plants, other than trees, bushes, or flowers, to grow to a height exceeding one foot anywhere in the Village.

Swimming pools
Fences are required around all swimming pools, both in-ground and above ground if they are smaller than 42″ in height.

Vacation service
Contact the Village Hall to complete a form which is maintained by the Police Department showing vacation information of a resident.
